Huambo, – about 1.75 million square metres were cleared from January to October 2010, in the whole national territory, revealed Monday in the city of Huambo, the minister of Welfare and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua.
Speaking during a meeting with the province deputy governor for politica and social matters, Lotti Nolika, as part of a two-day working visit to Huambo, the minister stated that during this period 184 anti-tank landmines, 4.224 non detonated explosive devices, 76 tonnes of various calibres and six tones of various war materials were removed and destroyed.
João Baptista Kussumua stressed that the provinces Moxico, Kuando Kubango, Bié and Huambo as being the most mined in the national territory.
The meeting with de-mining inter-sectorial group in Huambo Province dominated the visit programme of the minister, whose return to Luanda is expected to happen this Tuesday.
