Luanda – The voluntary and organised repatriation process of more than 40.000 Angolan refugees based in DR Congo, set for 4 July, was postponed due to the preparations of its materialisation.
This was said to Angop on Monday by the Head of the Refugees Department of the Ministry of Assistance and Social Reintegration (MINARS), Alfredo Leite.
According to him, the Congolese authorities did not inform Angola about the number people to be sent to the country in this day and they alleged the continuity of preparing conditions.
On 8 June 2011, the governments of Angola, DR Congo and High Commissioner of United Nations for Refugees (HCR) signed in Kinshasa an accord on the voluntary repatriation of more than 40.000 Angolan refugees in this sister country, as from 4 July.
The accord was signed by the Angolan Minister of Assistance and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua, the Congolese vice Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Adolphe Lumanu Muana Nsefo and the representative of HCR, Mohamed Boukry.
