Counter-Terrorism: Iran and Afghanistan to cooperate on campaign against terrorism

Tehran, July 19, IRNA – Presidents of Iran and Afghanistan in a phone talk Monday evening expressed disgust against terrorism, emphasizing need for cooperation to solve the problem.

Islamic Republic of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pointed out in his phone talk with his Afghan counterpart that the enemies’ objective is not providing wellbeing, welfare, and security for any nation.”

He added, “Resorting to inhumane deeds the hegemonic powers are after harming the regional countries, and under such conditions the regional governments and nations must fortify joint cooperation in confrontation with the enemies’ plots.”

Ahmadinejad meanwhile emphasized the importance of ever increasing bilateral and regional cooperation between Tehran and Kabul.

The IRI President also expressed sympathy with the Afghan President on the tragedy of his late brother’s recent assassination.

Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai, too, appreciating the sympathy of the Iranian government and nation, reiterated, “The great Iranian nation has always been a friend and sympathizer for the Afghan nation, which hopes to achieve sustainable security and prosperous life relying on the cooperation and assistance of its mighty neighbor, the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He reiterated, “The enemies of Afghanistan are after hurting the Afghan nation and blocking the path for restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan resorting to terrorist moves.”
