Iran: 111 countries transit goods via Iran

Tehran, Aug 2, IRNA – Deputy minister of road and urban development said Tuesday that 111 world countries exchanged about three million tons of commodities through Iran’s transit network last year (ended March 20, 2011).

Speaking to IRNA, Shahriar Afandizadeh said Iran aimed at increasing the amount up to 12 million tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 12, 2012).

It is also expected that by the end of Iran’s Fifth Economic Development Plan (2010-2015), the capacity of the country's goods transit would grow up to 40 million tons, said the official.
