His Majesty, King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, congratulated Sawsan Al Taqawi today on the occasion of her election to the Lower House of Parliament, noting the victory represents contributions women have made throughout Bahrain's society.
"This success is the result of the progress achieved by Bahraini women in all areas and their participation in the nation's overall development and their determination to contribute to building the future of the country," His Majesty King Hamad said.
Sawsan was declared an early winner of the special elections, set to take place September 24, after her opponents dropped out of the race. She will represent Bahrain's North Governorate 2nd Constituency in the Lower Chamber.
