Source: IRNATehran, Sept 15, IRNA – Foreign Ministry in a statement on Wednesday called on the international community to pay attention to grave condition of Canadian aboriginals.
Issuing a statement on the fourth anniversary of ratification of declaration on rights of the aboriginals, Foreign Ministry said that it is regrettable that despite accepting declaration of the rights of the aboriginals, the Canadian government has not yet shown any necessary will for implementation of the declaration.
It said it is source of deep sorrow that the government has been defying provisions of such an important declaration.
It added that while condemning inhuman conditions of Canadian aborigines, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on Canada to adhere to all international commitments and the declaration on rights of the aboriginals.
The Ministry also advised Ottawa to take tangible measures to narrow down the gap of development between the aboriginals and non-aboriginals.
