Opinion: Troy Davis - yesterday's roar is today's silence

Yesterday the name Troy Davis seemed to be on everyone's lips. Social networks and mainstream media around the world highlighted the lack of evidence against him, the withdrawal or recanting of witness statements.

We demanded that the powers that be intervene - grant clemency, a stay of execution, a retrial.

Yesterday's roar is today's silence.

The doubts surrounding the case still exist.

Doubts surrounding the conviction of others on death row, still exist.

The name Troy Davis should not be forgotten, not only for the sake of Mr. Davis - but for others like him.

I have little time for murderers, but I also have little time for those who allow a man or woman to go to their deaths when doubt hangs heavily over their convictions.

Troy Davis died yesterday - but the injustice lives on.
