4 killed and 46 injured in clashes following Nicaragua elections
Managua. Four people have died and 46 were injured in clashes following the results of Nicaragua’s presidential elections were announced. Local police says gunfights between supporters and opponents of leftist President Daniel Ortega have been opened in two Northern towns, radio Liberty reported.
Ortega, candidate from the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) won a decisive victory on the vote this Sunday. Opposition candidate Fabio Gadea, however, did not admit defeat and accused the authorities of falsifications. International observers also reported some violations but did not pronounce the elections illegitimate.
