The board of the U.S.-Libya Chamber of Commerce has announced that an official delegation of member companies will travel to Libya at the invitation of the Transitional National Council on February 24-27, 2012.

This will mark the first official U.S.-led business delegation into Libya since the installment of the Libyan Cabinet on August 19, 2011. The delegation will include a small contingent of member companies from the newly established U.S.-Libya Chamber of Commerce. The delegation will meet with senior ministers of the Libyan government as well as the leadership of the Transitional National Council.

The delegation will be hosted by ILF (Independent Libya Foundation) President Basit Igtet.

Lionel Johnson, vice president, Middle-East and North Africa Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce stated:

"We are delighted to partner with the new U.S.-Libya Chamber of Commerce in bringing the first post-revolution business delegation to a free Libya. We applaud the new Libyan government for its stated commitment to rebuilding the country, and to establishing a meaningful framework for private sector-led growth that will lead to desperately needed job creation. U.S. companies, large and small, stand ready to share their expertise and to demonstrate tangible support for Libya's integration into the global economy."

Adam Hock, president of the U.S.-Libya Chamber of Commerce stated, "We are pleased and honored that the Libyan Government is providing our delegation with such high level access. As we are starting to see the opportunities for growth and development in Libya, we feel that now is the optimum moment to host this business delegation."

The delegation will be a fully sanctioned business-to-business trip organized by the U.S.-Libya Chamber of Commerce with technical support from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C.
