Beijing, May 9, IRNA – China will build 15
waste incineration power plants in Iran based on an agreement inked
between the two sides here on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed between the private sectors of the two countries simultaneous with the visit to China of the Iranian presidential advisor for environmental affairs to China.
According to the agreement, worth $300 million, China is to transfer advanced equipment and technology to Iran to build the power plants.
The power plants will be installed in 15 Iranian cities with the priority given to two coastal provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran.
An Iranian official said that the power plants will be able to incinerate over 3,000 tons of waste and generate 50 megawatts of electricity from them.
The power plants are to be completed by early 2013.
