Belarusian military on inspection tour in Portugal
MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarusian military are taking part in an
inspection tour in Portugal as part of an inspection group of Ukraine,
representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
In line with the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty a representative
of the Armed Forces of Belarus will take part in an inspection of the
designated locations in Portugal as part of the inspection group of
Ukraine on 10-14 September, specified the source. While in Portugal the
inspectors will examine two army units, which are subject to control in
line with the CFE treaty. The inspection is meant to verify that the
available armaments and materials correspond to their declared number.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry also told BelTA that on 10-14 September a
mission of Germany and Latvia will carry out an observation flight over
Belarus and the Russian Federation in line with the Open Skies Treaty.
The flight will be performed using a Swedish observation aircraft SAAB
340.
At the same time representatives of the armed forces of Belarus and
Russia will perform an observation flight over Latvia and Estonia using a
Russian observation aircraft An-30B.
