New York, Sept 28, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov discussed the latest international developments, including Syria’s crisis and talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (5 permanent UNSC members plus Germany).
New York, Sept 28, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov discussed the latest international developments, including Syria’s crisis and continuation of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany).
The two foreign ministers met in New York on the sidelines of the 67th Annual Session of the UN General Assembly late Friday local time.
Salehi and Lavrov expressed satisfaction over bilateral ties while emphasizing the need for coordination and further cooperation on the latest regional and international developments.
Referring to the amicable ties between Tehran and Moscow and satisfaction over bilateral cooperation, Foreign Minister Salehi recalled numerous common viewpoints between two countries in different regional and international issues, including Syria.
Russian foreign minister for his part said that his country has always emphasized on the necessity and importance of Iran’s participation in the process of finding a solution to Syria’s crisis.
Lavrov also emphasized on the need for all-out cooperation and continuation of consulting with the Islamic Republic of Iran for resolving the Syrian crisis.
The two foreign ministers emphasized on adopting a framework for peacefully resolve the Syrian crisis while calling for backing the mission of the UN and Arab League special envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.
Lavrov hailed Iran for successful holding of the Non-Aligned Summit (NAM) Summit in Tehran while inviting Salehi to visit Syria.
