The second meeting of the
Working Group on Syria’s Economic Recovery and Development will see
participants from more than 60 countries convene at the Foreign Office
in Berlin on 4 September 2012.
A key forum for coordinating international action for the reconstruction of Syria, the working group is jointly chaired by Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Germany’s Foreign Minister Westerwelle will open the meeting.
Those expected to attend on behalf of the Syrian opposition include the president of the Syrian National Council, Abdulbaset Sieda, opposition politician Riad Seif and Syria’s former deputy oil minister Abdo Hussameddin.
