The National Security Council (NSC) will send an inquiry letter to the BRN group through Malaysia, to request explanations for the violence that is still ongoing during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
NSC Secretary-General Pharadon Phatthanathabut spoke of security measures for the 3 southern border provinces during the month of Ramadan, amidst the occurrence of violent incidents, telling reporters that the current measures will be maintained. Officials in the Deep South are working to find out which groups were responsible for the violence. Lieutenant General Pharadon said he will send the inquiry letter to the BRN to request an explanation over the continuation of Deep South violence.
Thai negotiators and representatives of the BRN, at their latest peace dialogue meeting in Malaysia, generally agreed to foster a reduction of violence during the month of Ramadan.
