PM assures IDPs to have simplified procedure for voting in parliamentary elections
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk asked the CEC to implement a simplified procedure for the participation in pre-term elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the PM said that on Friday, October 3, at a meeting with the members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, answering questions from Church hierarchy and religious leaders.
The Prime Minister has noted that he held talks on the issue with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission.
The Prime Minister has said that next week the Central Election Commission will take a decision, "which is to be similar to the solution for internally displaced persons from Crimea": "It will enable those who do not live now in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, participate in electoral process and on the basis of a simplified procedure to be registered and be included in the list of voters." "Every citizen of Ukraine, irrespective of his/her place of residence at the present time is eligible to to participate in the electoral process: to vote, to elect and to be elected. It is his/her constitutional right," Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined.
