Iran is among the priorities of Afghanistan's foreign policy, Afghan deputy foreign minister said on Tuesday in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan
Hekmat Khalil Karzai, who has recently been appointed to the post, said in his meeting with Ambassador Mohammad-Reza Bahrami that the historical and friendly relations between the two countries in political, economic and security fields are of great significance.
He appreciated Iran's contribution to Afghanistan in the past three decades and the Iranian nation's hospitality for the 470,000 Afghan refugees, most of whose visas have been repeatedly extended many times, Karzai said that the bilateral relations with Iran have always been of great importance for Afghanistan.
Ambassador Bahrami expressed pleasure with meeting the new Afghan deputy foreign minister and hoped for closer and more serious cooperation between the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan and the Iranian Embassy in Kabul.
He renewed Iran's commitment to admit Afghan top university students for studies in Iranian universities and invited the Afghan higher education minister to visit Iran to coordinate implementation of the agreement in this respect and academic cooperation.
